In her iconic song “Simply The Best” Tina Turner offered praise to someone else, and now everyone is redirecting those words back to her. Tina Turner, the legendary ‘Queen of Rock’ died at 83. According to her representatives, she passed peacefully at home in Kusnact, Switzerland.

Turner’s journey is a powerful testament to resilience and reinvention. Her story is marked by both triumphs and challenges. But it is her unwavering determination that truly sets her apart.

Born Anna Mae Bullock in Tennessee, Turner discovered her passion for music at a young age, and it was through her talent and perseverance rose to prominence. With her powerful voice and electrifying dancing, she captivated audiences worldwide.

You can’t tell Tina Turner’s success story without her tumultuous relationship with Ike Turner. Together, they formed the Ike and Tina Turner Revue, achieving chart-topping hits and thrilling performances. However, behind the scenes, Turner’s life was anything but dazzling. In 1976, after 16 years of abuse that was unrelenting, she made the courageous decision to leave Ike. With just thirty-six cents and a Mobil credit card, Tina started her journey toward personal and professional liberation.

Despite facing difficulties in her early years as a solo artist, Turner demonstrated her resilience by adapting, embracing change, and striving tirelessly to establish herself as a formidable presence. In 1984, her album “Private Dancer” achieved both critical acclaim and commercial success, with its singles, including the iconic “What’s Love Got to Do With It,” cementing her status as a pop music icon.

Beyond her musical achievements, Turner’s influence extended far and wide. She shattered barriers and paved the way for female artists, showcasing the strength and talent of women in a male-dominated industry. Her dynamic performances, high-energy choreography, and powerful vocals became an inspiration for countless performers, including Mick Jagger and Beyoncé.

Later in life, Turner embarked on a new chapter with the love of her life. She relocated to Switzerland with her husband, far from the glare of the music industry. Her decision to step away from the spotlight demonstrated her autonomy and a deep desire for personal fulfillment. Even in her later years, Turner’s impact continued to resonate, inspiring us to embrace change and chart our own paths in life.

As we reflect on Tina Turner’s extraordinary journey, we can draw valuable lessons. Her powerful pivot reminds us that endings can lead to new beginnings, and reinvention is always within our reach. As well as, that there is power in owning your story and taking control of your narrative. Turner’s story encourages us to embrace change, overcome obstacles, and pursue our passions with unwavering determination.

In her divorce from Ike, Turner turned over pretty much everything including all her money, real property, and publishing royalties to prior work. She gave it all up – except for her name, so she could take control of her future. It wasn’t easy but yes she did it!

Simply the best, she was better than all the rest.
