I feel incredibly proud and a little bit old today.
My firstborn daughter is celebrating her 25th birthday, and it has me reflecting on the journey of motherhood that we’ve been on together.
To my daughter, Natasha.
I remember when you were born, how excited but scared I was to be responsible for another human life. But over the years, my fear gave way to confidence as I watched you grow into an amazing young woman with tremendous strength and character.
You have always had such ambition! You never let anything stand in your way or stop you from achieving whatever goal you set out for yourself; something that really resonates with me since this is also something that I have strived towards throughout my own life too!
My daughter, your 25th birthday marks not only a milestone in your life but also mine – it reminds me just how far both of us have come together over these past few decades and fills my heart with so much joy knowing what an incredible person you have become despite any obstacles along our path!
I’m so proud of the young lady that you’ve become… responsible, smart, brave, accomplished, and true to yourself. And God knows you leaned hard into me not wanting to stifle your curiosity and capability but I wouldn’t have had it any other way because of the CONFIDENCE!
It truly makes me feel like one proud mama who can confidently say “job well done” because no matter what else comes next, at least two things are certain:
- That I have done something right
- And you will be occupying ONLY space where the fullness of who you are is celebrated and respected.
I feel honored to call you my daughter.
Love you to infinity (and beyond)!
