Every day impurities find their way into your body. And as a result, sometimes the body’s systems are compromised making it a bit more difficult to filter certain waste and impurities out of the body. To create balance or jumpstart the body for a healthier life, we sometimes need to take matters into our own hands. All-natural remedies, like drinking teas, fresh fruit, and vegetable juices, can help to alleviate a multitude of ailments from your body — all without the need of a prescription. Some purists will do a fast, which means water only. However, while you can reap the health benefits, teas and juices by themselves are not the solution.
Ok, so how does this cleansing and detoxing thing work?
The words “cleanse” and “detox” are often used interchangeably. However, while cleansing and detoxification go hand-in-hand to safely achieve health goals, too often a differentiation is not made.
CLEANSING is all about fueling your body with nutrient-rich foods that support natural detoxification. The cleansing process helps you eliminate junk from the body, which is replaced with nutrient-rich foods to increase fiber into the body to help your intestines work efficiently to eliminate waste. Just so you know, many cleansing teas contain some levels of a laxative.
DETOXING is the process by which your body removes impurities from the blood in the liver and kidney where toxins are processed for elimination. The number one way to detoxify the body is by exercising which eliminates waste through perspiration. You can also minimize toxins from the body cutting back on smoking, alcohol, chemical-based household and beauty products, and stress.
Since the body typically detoxes itself, be careful only to detox once per year, for about a period of seven days. Do note, long-term cleansing may cause negative side effects. Detoxing too often and too long can be life-threatening.
The Best Detox Teas
You can detox using one or a blend of herbs and spices which will help to stimulate the liver and kidney process. You can opt for one of the following teas–just boil in water, add honey (optional) to sweeten, and drink.
Green Tea is highly recommended for detoxification, it contains flavonoids that detoxify the body by neutralizing free radicals responsible for cell damage. Green tea is also said to inhibit the growth of pathogens that cause tooth decay, tooth plaque, and bad breath.
Ginger Tea is a go-to because it has many benefits. Extremely beneficial for health, ginger is known to aid blood circulation and reduce inflammation, as well as, help to relieve nausea. This is actually one of the herbs you can drink daily.
Ginger and Cinnamon Tea is known as the fire tea, these two ingredients have ‘a sweet-spicy kick.’ Together, they help to keep blood sugar low which helps to keep weight off, improve digestion, and eliminate inflammation.
