Listen to this episode and you’ll learn how Ashley Haseotes underwent transformative spiritual healing from abuse, neglect, and chronic pain.
In sharing Ashley’s story, I hope you may find the courage to face your pain and begin healing. Let’s get started!
Ashley’s Story
No one knows better than Ashley that trauma not only manifests itself emotionally but also physically. Ashley Haseotes experienced life-altering trauma… Living through childhood abuse, neglect, the death of her niece, and the devastating cancer diagnosis of her 7-month-old son. However, as an empath, she continued to put everyone else first and, as a result, neglected herself.
After suffering overwhelming adult experiences coupled with suppressed childhood trauma, Ashley became debilitatingly ill. Chronic migraines and vertigo left her confined to her bed for months, as she collapsed into chronic pain, severe depression, and self-doubt.
Ashley knew she could not continue on this path of self-destruction. After months of personal therapy and uncovering her suppressed trauma, Ashley found hope in becoming her own best healer. Because, like they say, you can’t save anyone if you don’t save yourself first.
Now, as a meditation coach, author, and trauma healing founder, Ashley draws upon her own experience to help others struggling to work through the difficulties trauma brings. She recounts this experience in her memoir to give you permission to share your own story. But it doesn’t stop there. Ashley also founded One Mission, a charitable organization that helps children and families navigate pediatric cancer and heal after treatment.
The Path to Hope and Healing
Trauma is defined as a deeply distressing or disturbing experience, and the symptoms that come with it can be crippling. Common responses to trauma include isolation, depression, chronic pain, negative self-thoughts, and upsetting memories and dreams. Chances are, you have gone through a traumatic event and are likely to or have developed any of the before-mentioned symptoms. Luckily, there is hope and resources available to start the healing process.
So, how do you start the healing process?
According to Ashley, “By surrendering to what causes us pain, we are able to observe our true selves. In undertaking this inner work, we come to understand why we behave in certain ways and learn to love ourselves as we are.” In our conversation, Ashley shares how finding help, getting in touch with herself, self-care, and connecting with others aided her journey to healing. She also uses the Four Pillars of Healing, surrender, observation, curiosity, and love to help clients embark on a healing journey.
Like many of us, Ashley has worked through some of the toughest moments in her life, and in so doing, she has uncovered some of her biggest realizations. Within the pages of her highly personal, transformative new memoir The Unspoken Ashley shares how she moves beyond the limitations created by her memories and desires to find healing.
