When I became a mom, there was an identity shift. However, motherhood made me better at my job.

The everyday working mother is exceeding all expectations—despite the uncomfortable feeling that their job is in jeopardy if they leave work in the middle of the day to pick up their sick child from school. Work-life balance is not a reality in practice when working mothers feel like they can’t be their full selves, which includes being parents juggling the needs of kids along with work.

I don’t believe in work-life balance, because you never truly have balance. Truth is, being a working mother is an everyday struggle. Yet as challenging as motherhood can be, it doesn’t impede our company or career goals. In fact, as mothers, our work gets better and our efficiency goes way up because we choose to invest our time doing things that are meaningful. Otherwise, that’s time away from our family.

That’s why in this episode of The Open Conversation’s podcast we are discussing the fact that being a working mother is a superpower and not a weakness, as demonstrated by a few #badass moms.
